Horton Grange and more....
Tom was especially pleased to perform at Christine Locke’s Party at The Sour Grapes in Morpeth. It was the first time we had been, and what a lovely wine bar it is. We very much hope to return soon. Tom is available to perform at private functions and will tailor his performance to your needs.
Christine was kind enough to say afterwards:-
“Thank you so much for singing at my party yesterday! Everyone loved you! You just created a fabulous ambience to my afternoon.”
On the Friday and Saturday Nights of Valentines Weekend Tom sang at Horton Grange Country House Hotel. Both nights went extremely well and the Saturday night was packed! Thank you to the many people who were kind enough to take the time to tell Tom how much they had enjoyed his performance. Lots of people bought CD’s but of course if you missed out you can buy them here. Someone even took the trouble to mention him on Trip Advisor!
"There was a North East Singer on in the restaurant and he was excellent"
The good news is, that Tom went down so well, he will be back! Make your reservations now for Saturday April 25th which is set to be his next performance in the restaurant at Horton Grange.
Tom has been talking to the lovely people at The Badger in Ponteland, and will be singing there on the night of Friday 20th March. It’s a charity night – the staff are raising money for the Great North Air Ambulance, but it’s very informal, so why not just turn up for a drink and to say hello?
Finally, on Friday Tom was back at Marabini’s – and with no more booked there for now, who knows, hopefully not for the last time? You can catch Tom next at La Torre on Friday 27th February. The following Friday, 7th March he will be at Vercelli's in Hexham. You will find the details here.
Isn't January meant to be quiet?
In 2013 Tom was asked to perform at the inaugural Riders for Health Ball at The Newcastle Marriott at Gosforth Park. The event was a big success and raised a lot of money for a really worthwhile cause. So, when they decided to hold a second Ball on 24th January, they turned to Tom again - this time with a bigger set. as yet, we don't know just how much money was raised, but judging by some truly enthusiastic bidding in the auction, it will have been a very worthwhile figure. Our thanks to Chris and all his organisers for asking Tom back!
Another highlight of January was his gig at Vercelli's, Hexham. It's a lovely restaurant, with lovely staff, and 10th January was a busy night! Tom starts off in the restaurant and later on moves into Bar Kalanta. there were people coming on off the street to join in the fun - so much so that not everyone who wanted to move through from the restaurant could get in! It was shoulder to shoulder! The good news is, that Tom will be appearing there regularly throughout 2015, and will be there on New Year's Eve! That's a long way off of course, but he will be back there on Saturday 7th March.
In the meantime, February brings with it more private parties and a return to La Torre in Bedlington - another lovely restaurant. Tom will be back at Marabini's too. Before those though, why not come and see Tom at the fabulous Horton Grange Country House Hotel for Valentine's Night? In fact, Tom will be there on both Friday 13th and Saturday 14th February. The food is outstanding, there will be red roses for the ladies and even Romcom's showing in one of the rooms. Hope to see some of you there?
Happy New Year!!
Tom was back at some of his favourite restaurants for Christmas Party season, including Vercelli's, La Torre and Marabini's. It's a lovely time of year - nobody needs much persuasion to get into the party spirit! Last month we mentioned Mike Brown of Life on Cartoon Motion Photography. Well, Mike came along to one of Tom's La Torre gigs, and took some great photo's. Take a look at them in Tom's Gallery.
Tom was also performing at Maggie's Christmas Concert in Jesmond. Maggie's do terrific and much needed work at their centre at The Freeman Hospital. The concert raised thousand of pounds, and involved Tom, Graeme Danby, and Valerie Reid, as well last The Newcastle School for Girls Choir. Various regional figures read lessons, and everyone enjoyed the evening. At the end of the concert, Jason Isaacs also sang a few songs whilst everyone had mince pies and wine!
Afterwards Tom received the following messages of thanks:
Hi Tom
I just wanted to say another big thank you for coming and supporting our event on Monday night. Your performance was fantastic and everyone has commented on how much they enjoyed it.
Thank you again for all of your support.
Kelly Knighting-Wykes Centre Fundraising Manager
Tom,
Very many thanks for performing at the Maggie's Christmas Carol Concert last night.
Your performance of 'O Holy Night' was so powerful and hugely enjoyed by everyone. It was extremely kind of you to support Maggie's in this way. An enormous thank you.
Do hope you and your family have a very happy Christmas and an excellent New Year.
Very best wishes for your continued success.
Carolyn Ramsbotham (Concert Committee, Maggie’s Cancer Care Centre)
Dear Tom,
Many, many thanks for all your help with the Maggie's Carol Concert at St George's it was an absolutely fantastic event and we have had the most wonderful feedback from the congregation, supporters and Maggie's Head Office.
The evening was a great success for Maggie's raising in excess of £6,000 with more pledges still to come in, but most importantly created goodwill and awareness for our Centre here in the North East. We very much hope this will become an annual event.
I would like to thank you personally, as Chairman of the Fundraising Board of Maggie's North East and on behalf of the Carol Concert Committee: David Wallace, Michaela Martin and Carolyn Ramsbotham.
Finally, I wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas and a Healthy New Year.
Lorna Moran OBE, Chairman of Fundraising Board of Maggie’s North East
Tom also sang for John and Jill Hudson at Seaham Hall Hotel, just before Christmas. They married on 20th December, for a truly Christmassy wedding. Of course, it's a fabulous venue, and Tom provided the early evening entertainment. John and Jill are a really lovely couple and deserve a very happy future together. Here's what Jill said afterwards:-
“I am so pleased I booked Tom to sing at our wedding. We were not disappointed. From initial meeting, through to the end of his performance, Tom was a delight to work with. He took immediate interest in our day and came to our venue to visit and see the set up before the day, which we were very grateful for. Tom's business has a true family feel, which we love, and fit in perfect with our day which also included our son's christening. I would highly recommend Tom for any event or wedding where you want to wow your guests with strong vocals, fun entertainment and a good range of style. Thanks for everything Tom! Now what party can I plan next where you can sing for us?
Much love" – Mrs J Hudson.
So….Happy New Year to everyone. We hope it is a healthy one for you all. Tom's next public gig is at Vercelli's - aways a great night - and it's on Saturday 10th January. Hope to see you all there!
Update...
Congratulations to Mr & Mrs David Lavarack, in York who recently celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary! They saw Tom performing at Alnwick Garden in May, and asked if he would come and perform at their celebrations at Swallow Hall Golf Club. It just fitted in nicely as Tom was performing the next night in Northampton. They are a wonderful couple, and had many of their friends and family there to help mark what is an amazing milestone. We all wish them all the best for the next 50 years!
The next night, Tom was at The Hilton Northampton, for The Child Growth Foundation's Annual Convention. The charity is very important to Tom and his family - many of you will be aware of Ruth, Tom's Mum, and her recent participation in The Great North Run. Some of you kindly sponsored her, helping to raise a magnificent £1,235 for The CGF. Tom sang at the evening dinner, and when he wasn't singing, provided the music for the dance floor. He made full use of all of his lights, including a a brand new one, and, for the first time had full DMX control of the lights from the sound desk! The room looked superb.
One of the highlights of the evening was seeing Tom, gather all the children on the dance floor, as they provided the choral backing to him singing "Any Dream Will Do". The convention was a huge success - so helpful for so many people. In fact such a success, that it has outgrown the venue and next year will be held at The Hilton, Warwick. Tom has been asked to return and provide the entertainment again!
Finally, Tom has had to cancel two gigs - this Friday at Marabini's, when Pete Brown has agreed to step in, and on Saturday at The Old Storehouse. Tom is having some minor knee surgery this Friday, but he will be back bouncing about again soon! His next public gigs are on Friday 3rd October at Marabini's, Morpeth, and Saturday 4th October at The Old Storehouse. See you there!
What a weekend!
On Saturday, Tom was back at La Torre in Bedlington. The renovations are nearing completion, but this week, only the upstairs restaurant was open. It was full, and made for a more intimate atmosphere. It was a very good night, and Tom even finished off the night by playing a few George Formby classics on the Uke! He will be back there on Saturday 11th October, by which time the new restaurant will be open downstairs!
Yesterday, was The Great North Run. By now, readers will know how important it was for the Wyllie family. Ruth, Tom's Mum - who is celebrating a milestone birthday this year, wanted to complete the run - before it is too late. Having said that, there was a 93 year old war veteran running, so there is time for us all! It was a fantastic day, and Ruth performed superbly well and has raised over £1,100 for The Child Growth Foundation. It's an absolutely superb effort, and our thanks to everyone who donated so generously. We are all extremely proud of her and are looking forward to The Child Growth Convention next weekend! It isn't too late to donate! Ruth put so much effort into her challenge - she would be very, very grateful for any donations! You can donate by visiting her JustGiving page here.
Tom's next public gig is tomorrow night at The Boat Inn, Leaplish, Kielder, and he will be at Alnwick Garden Cafe on Wednesday from 12 Noon until around 2pm. Hope to see you there!
Thick, Fast and The Great North Run
September looks like being even busier, as he brings his Summer season up at Kielder to a close, and has gigs, at Marabini's, La Torre, Alnwick Garden and The Old Storehouse, as well as a number of private gigs, as far afield as York and Northampton.
The gig in Northampton, a week on Sunday, is for The Child Growth Foundation, a charity which ha been very supportive of Tom and his family over the years. This Sunday, Tom's Mum is running in The Great North Run, for the first (and possibly only!) time, and helping to raise much needed funds for this important charity. Yesterday, Anna Foster of Magic Radio Newcastle 1152 interviewed Ruth on air, as Anna highlights some of the less well known charities that hope to benefit from the Great North Run.
We missed the very start when Anna asked Ruth - "This is the first time you have run the Great North Run, but do you think it will be the last?!" you can listen to what followed towards the top of the right hand sidebar on the homepage.
If you feel able and would like to support Ruth in her run, please visit her sponsorship page here. Anything you can donate will be really, really appreciated! Thank you!
Meanwhile, you see Tom performing next at Marabini's tomorrow night - Friday 5th September, and at La Torre on Saturday night - 6th September
Time for a break!
For those of you we have seen over the last couple of weeks, at various venues - thank you for your support and kind comments! Recent gigs have included:
The Old Storehouse, Amble - where Tom is becoming known for the quality and variety of his repertoire. The Old Storehouse recently had £2M spent on upgrading the restaurant, pub, and owners entertainment lounge. It's a beautiful place to be entertained whilst dining on high quality food. Tom has been entertaining both the general public in The Old Storehouse, and the owners in Links - The Owners Entertainment Lounge.
The Boat Inn, Leaplish, Kielder - where Tom has started his Summer season. Still to come, Tom will be singing there on four Sunday evenings in August and four Tuesday evenings in September. So, enjoy the long evenings, and make your way to one of Northumberland's beauty spots, and enjoy the food and entertainment whilst looking out over the fabulous Kielder Water.
Marabini's, Morpeth - where Tom is still entertaining. When he was last there the restaurant was packed out, and as ever, he had people singing along and dancing. Marabini's has long been a favourite venue, and although Tom doesn't go there as often these days, he still has a few gigs booked between now and December.
La Torre, Bedlington - Just last night Tom was back at La Torre, and the restaurant was fully booked. A special shout out goes to Pinot, who used to work at Marabini's and it was a pleasure to see him add to the lovely atmosphere at La Torre. Tom was singer, dancer, children's entertainer and child minder last night, as some of the young customers joined him dancing and doing a conga (well it was a little like the Pied Piper!) round the restaurant. Tom received possibly the biggest round of applause yet for his rendition of Nessun Dorma, which with the final of The World Cup playing tonight was certainly appropriate - even if England didn't get past first base (Hmm getting our sports a bit mixed up there I think!!). Jackie Rayer was kind enough to write today:
"Fantastic night last night. Tom, you have an incredible voice, which makes me melt when you sing classical. Outstanding - look forward to next month!"
All of which finally brings us on to "the break". Tom is taking a well earned holiday, but will be back and raring to go, for a busy August schedule. Take a look at the public gig dates page, to see where and when you can see him perform. His next public gig is at The Alnwick Garden on Wednesday 6th August from 12 Noon.
And, he's back.....
We are pleased to say, that Tom will be back at Marabini’s, though for now, not very often, because Tom has lots of bookings, both private and public over the coming months. His next gig at Marabini’s is on Saturday 28th June, and then Friday 8th August. If you can’t wait, then check out his gig dates page, because you can go and see him at some other fantastic local restaurants. If you have seen Tom perform and enjoyed his performance, then tell us! We want to hear from you with your review - tell us what was good, and what you would love him to include in the future.
La Torre, Bedlington
For our part, we really enjoyed our night too, and for those who have yet to try La Torre in Bedlington, it is well worth a visit. Last night, and in honour of the Easter weekend, they had a delicious homemade Cadbury’s Creme Egg Cheesecake, which was absolutely delicious, but it has to be said, this was simply the finale to what was a lovely meal.
Why not try out La Torre when Tom is next there on Saturday 17th May? In fact Tom will be there once a month, so keep checking the gig dates page for forthcoming dates. Meanwhile, you can next catch him at Marabini’s, Morpeth on Saturday 3rd May.
Springing Off!
In the coming weeks, Tom is performing at a variety of restaurant venues - some new, some familiar, so Tom will be taking his show to a wider audience during the spring. This Friday, Tom will be singing at Sonero’s in Tynemouth, which quite recently has changed hands. Make your booking now, with David, the manager there, and look forward to a great night out on the coast. The following Friday (11th), Tom will be at Vercelli’s, in Hexham, a beautiful restaurant on Priestpopple, where Louise Brison is your host. That’s sure to be a great night too!
In the coming weeks, Tom will be back at Marabini’s, La Torre in Bedlington, and Alnwick Garden too. He’ll also be returning to The Dyke Neuk, Meldon. He is also delighted to announce that this year he will be performing at The Boat Inn Restaurant, Kielder on New Year’s Eve - a venue which is fast becoming another jewel in Northumberland’s crown.
For dates and times, as always, check out the gig dates page. Keep watching as more dates are added!
Marabini's
Tom will be appearing in Hexham at Vercelli’s Italian Restaurant in April, and La Torre Italian Restaurant in Bedlington in April and May.
Tom was back at Marabini’s last night, and enjoyed a superb evening, where he entertained everyone, with the variety of material for which Tom has become well known. By the end of the night, he had the dance floor packed, and his appreciative audience gave him warm applause - which is what he thrives on! There were a few parties in last night, both big and small, and Tom had them all involved, singing at their tables, and dancing with them on the dance floor.
Don’t miss Tom’s next appearance at Marabini’s on Saturday 29th March. Be sure to book a table though!
Tom sings in Alnwick Garden
It’s a lovely venue, of course, the garden is one of Northumberland’s “jewels”, and even in February, they are looking fabulous. Tom hopes to return there in the future. Meanwhile, you can catch Tom this Friday evening at Marabini’s in Morpeth, from about 8:30pm. See you there!
Happy Birthday Tom!
Although Tom was of course working, it was a great way to celebrate his birthday, and the party went on well into the night. Thanks to all who came along, we hope you had a good night. Tom will be back at Marabini’s on 21st February, or, before then, catch him over half term at Alnwick Garden Cafe between 1pm and 2:40pm on Wednesday 19th February.
Busy January - but there's more to come yet!
Tom turned 21 this week and will be celebrating his birthday, with anyone who is at Marabini’s tomorrow night! Book your table and come along and wish Tom Happy Birthday!
Last December Marabini Gig is a hit!
There was a late start, with some large parties in, but, as ever, Tom had everyone dancing by the end of the night. He is very much looking forward to 2014, so watch this space for details of further bookings!
In the meantime, he will be back there on Saturday 18th January 2014. Meanwhile he, and we, wish you all the very best for the new year.
Elton Tom Hits Morpeth!
Tom had the bar area packed with dancers, and also had a couple of conga’s trailing right round the restaurant. If you were there last night, thanks for helping make it a good night. If not, why not? You can catch him there next Saturday 28th December - but be sure to book!
Fantastic Night - but come and join me next time, we can do even better!
On Saturday, with “normal service” resumed, Tom’s set had people partying long and hard. His entertainment had the restaurant still two thirds full at midnight! By the end of the night, as Tom finished with his final, final, final song, some of the diners had lifted Tom onto their shoulders as he sang!
Afterwards, people took to face book to say what a good night they had had....
“Great night Tom, Well done!” - Judith Piper
“Brilliant Night. Thoroughly enjoyed your singing. Thanks” - Julie McGaughey
“Brilliant Night” - Elaine Thornton
Take a look at the compilation of the last couple of Christmas nights at Marabini’s on the home page. Now, to paraphrase Chris Tarrant (Who wants to be a millionaire) - we don’t want to make that the best night. We can do better still, so come on and join Tom this Saturday at Marabini’s in Morpeth. Booking is essential! See you there!
Full steam ahead to Christmas!
Christmas party season is well under way now though, and at Marabini’s last Saturday, Tom had the whole restaurant singing along to lots of songs. We have some video clips, which we will try and piece together in to a montage as soon as possible! Laura Mills definitely enjoyed her night:
Twitter - best time last night at the first of many of my 21st birthday celebrations, thank you @TomWyllieSinger & Marabini's for an amazing night! :)
You can check out where he will be on his gig dates page. He is back at Marabini’s this Friday and Saturday - and don’t miss his guest solo appearance at Anna Foster’s Magic Choir at The Sage on December 18th! They are singing in aid of Cash for Kids. But first, see you at Marabini’s!
Two for one offer....
It was a special evening as Tom’s Mum, Ruth was there celebrating her birthday, and had the pleasure of her son leading the diners singing Happy Birthday to her. Miguel was celebrating his birthday too, so, not surprisingly the partying carried on late.
If you haven’t been to Marabini’s, book your table now! Tom is there every weekend between now and New Year - it’s always a great night there! His next public gig is back there on Friday 29th November.
Marabini's, The Feathers and The Philippines
Saturday saw another great crowd at Marabini’s - when is it not a good crowd at Marabini’s? There were birthday parties and a hen party, and they were in the mood to dance and sing, so a great night was had by all. You can check to see the dates when Tom is back at Marabini’s here, but be sure to book a table as it gets very busy!
On Sunday, Tom was up at The Feathers Inn, Hedley on the Hill, where Helen and Rhian were raising funds for the Disaster Emergency Committee Typhoon Haiyan Appeal. It was a great night, which started with Izzy Daltry singing and playing keyboard - two songs which she wrote herself. She’s a talented girl with a bright future! Then Tom sang a few of his Classical/Musical Theatre songs, starting with “Somewhere Only We Know” - currently being used in the John Lewis Christmas ad.
Tom was joined by Anna Foster from Magic 1152 who sang “All I Ask Of You” from Phantom Of The Opera, with Tom, and then followed that with a beautiful “O Mio Babbino Caro”.
There followed a quiz by quizmaster Toby Daltry - he knows how to put an entertaining quiz together! His delivery of questions and clues was entertainment of itself, we hope to return for another of his quizzes. Next up was Joe Taylor - Guitarist/Singer/Songwriter, who sang a couple of songs including Tracy Chapman’s “Fast Car” and then he accompanied himself and Tom singing “Walking in Memphis”. It was totally unrehearsed but was a great version, putting many X Factor contestants to shame!
Finally, Tom was back on, with plenty of upbeat material that everyone could sing along to. As you see, the pub was rocking! Allendale, Wylam and Mordue Breweries, and LWC Drinks, all charged £3 for Real Ales and traditional Ciders, with 100% going to the appeal. At the last count over £1200 was raised - a fantastic effort!
You can see Tom’s next public gig at Marabini’s on Saturday 23rd November 2013.
Double Header
Saturday was another great night at Marabini’s and was the first in a run of consecutive Saturdays at there which will take us up to the end of the year. The atmosphere at Marabini’s is not to be missed.
Last night, Tom was back, helping the Young section of Morpeth Harriers with their dinner and awards night. It was fantastic to see so many there supporting the night, and hopefully it proved to be a great fundraiser for the club.
Tom will be back at Marabini’s next Saturday, 16th November. Book your table now!
Friday night is the new Saturday night...
Tom filled the bar area with dancing, and by the time he closed, people were asking for more! Traditionally, Saturday tends to be the busy party night, but Friday was no different. Thanks to everyone for the kind feedback - including the gentleman from Essex, for whom this was his first visit to Marabini’s with Tom performing. He said how much he enjoyed the night and was impressed with Tom’s classical repertoire. He was looking forward to the long road trip home, as he left having bought Tom’s second CD “Il Divino”.
Tom will be back at Marabini’s on Saturday, 9th November 2013. Book your table now!
Marabini's
Tom entertained everyone with his mix of repertoire, and had people up dancing both at their tables and at the front of the restaurant! If you can’t make it this friday, then check out his gig dates here, as he has dates throughout November and December!
Saturday Night at Marabini's
Tom Wyllie, North East Singer was back there on Saturday night, and he entertained people with his mix of Classical, Easy Listening and Pop Music. By the time diners had finished their meals, they were either singing along with Tom, or up dancing. Marabini’s is unique for it’s mix of food and music, and with their friendly attentive staff - plus of course Tom, it makes for a great night out. Tom will be back there on Friday 11th October, so book your table now!
August Round-up
The previous post made mention of Tom's performance in Morpeth Market Place on 3rd August, which seemed to go down well. Not only did he get lots of great feedback on the day, but he has subsequently received enquiries about purchasing further copies of "crescendo" and "Il Divino".
Hi we bought "Crecendo" a few weeks ago in the market place Morpeth. A real treat for us to stand and listen to Tom singing! We bought this CD and wish we had bought them both!
- Pat Davidson
We are working on a face lift and re-launch of Tom's website, and very much hope to be able to make his CDs available for purchase online.
On both 10th and 24th August, Tom performed at The Boat Inn at Kielder, entertaining holidaymakers at Leaplish. He sang from all parts of his repertoire and was taking requests. Regulars won't be surprised that Tom ended the night with people up and dancing! They were great nights in a lovely setting. The summer season at Leaplish has drawn to a close, with the end of the school holidays, but Tom hopes to return to the Boat Inn again.
31st August saw Tom back at Marabini's once again! Marabinis is never dull, and there was a great atmosphere. Tom gave an extended set of his classical repertoire, and was in good form.
Tom's family were there celebrating his Dad's birthday, so it was a great opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to his Dad, and put the traditional Sombrero on his head!
Tom's next public performance is on 26th September - back at Marabini's! He'll hope to see you there!
He's back!
On Saturday night he was back at Marabini's, where, it's no secret, he loves to perform. A great night was had by all, including Natasha Magee, herself a regular at Marabini's. Natasha called in late on, in time to perform a quick duet with Tom - the Journey classic, Don't Stop Believin'
Natasha is singing at Marabini's this Friday, 2nd August, so why not book your table? Tom is back at Marabini's on 31st August, but you can hear him perform in Morpeth Market Place, on Saturday 3rd August between 12:30pm and 3pm. His other August dates can be found here.
Happy Birthday Ed!
Special mention here, goes to Ed Wyllie though, Tom's brother (and accomplished drummer as it happens) who celebrated his birthday earlier in the week. So often, Ed sits on his own at Tom's gigs, providing his expertise on sound - and he does a great job.
Thanks Ed and Happy Birthday!!
You can see Tom back at Marabini's on Saturday 27th July 2013. Be sure to book in advance though!
Tripping the light fantastic
Tom was back at Marabini's last night, and took a couple of his lights along for a test run! Tom was in good form, and everyone had a great night - always the case at Marabini's!
There was a hen party who stayed on to the very end, and we wish the bride all the very best for her forthcoming wedding!
You can catch Tom back there on Saturday, 8th June. Booking is essential!
New songs...
Later he added Earth Angel (The Penguins - sung in Back to the Future), You Can't Hurry Love (Phil Collins) and Copacobana (Barry Manilow). He also sang current hit It's a Beautiful Day (Michael Bublé). All went down well - it's always a good night at Marabini's. Laura Brown was there on Saturday with a large party at the front of the restaurant, and later, she messaged Tom on Facebook -
"Great night last night Tom, thanks yet again - you were FAB xxx".
Thanks Laura, glad you enjoyed the night. You can catch Tom at Marabini's again on Saturday 25th May!
Tom receives a helping hand
Usually he begins the evening at Marabini's with a selection of Classical Crossover and Musical Theatre music, but on Saturday, in an effort to protect and prolong his voice, he began with some easy listening and swing songs.
Happily, Becky Cowell, was there with a party celebrating a family birthday, and, talented singer that she is, helped Tom out by singing a couple of duets and some songs of her own. Their renditions of Ho Hey by The Lumineers and Piano Man by Billy Joel stood out. At the end of the evening Becky sang, I Dreamed a Dream from Les Miserables, and Adele's Someone Like You receiving deserved applause and Marabini Confetti!
Tom would like to thank Becky once again for her help. He is on the mend and looking forward to resuming normal service when he's next at Marabini's on Saturday 11th May.
Tom helps raise funds for St Robert's Rennovation Fund...
Mr and Mrs Ken Wilson, regulars at Marabini's and who have enjoyed Tom's performances before asked Tom to come along to the evening and provide entertainment, which of course Tom was pleased to do. A successful night saw over £500 raised, and Tom made his own contribution from CD sales on the night.
Another highlight saw John Radcliffe perform Mustang Sally acapella, with backing singers "chosen" from the diners! We quickly set them up with microphones, and their rendition was as impressive as the fundraising effort of all concerned. Thanks to everyone for a great night!
Tom is back at Marabini's on Saturday 20th April from 8:30pm - hope to see you there!
Lynn's libations and Laura's lungs….
As you see, Tom himself ended up wearing the birthday hat! Also there was Tom's old swimming coach - Laura Brown, who claims that much of Tom's singing is down to her training. Holding him under water helped to increase his lung capacity!! Thanks Laura!
Tom will be back at Marabini's on Saturday 20th April 2013. Before that though, you can see him at a new venue for Tom - The Boat Inn, Kielder. He will be there on Wednesday 27th March 2013 from 7pm.
Musical Mother's Day at Doxford Hall Hotel
Tom recently performed there on Valentine's Night, with lots of great feedback. Indeed a TripAdvisor reviewer wrote "The evening meal was outstanding with an excellent wine list and attentive service. The evening was further enhanced by a very accomplished singer with a wide repertoire. Doxford Hall is the perfect place for a short break situated as it is close to many of the main sites of Northumberland and the Scottish borders. I can thoroughly recommend it."
Yesterday, John Short, who was dining at Doxford Hall, posted on Tom's facebook page "Great Performance at Doxford" whilst Tom was still performing!!
We would echo all the glowing reports about Doxford Hall Hotel. For those who haven't been, make your reservation soon, as the hotel is beautiful, the staff so friendly and accommodating, and the food absolutely delicious! As if that isn't enough, Doxford Hall boasts stunning rooms and grounds, and of course it has fabulous leisure facilities!
Tom's next public performance is at Marabini's Ristorante, Morpeth this Saturday, 16th March 2013, from 8:30pm. Hope to see you there?!
Tom in surprise gig in Morpeth
Techflow Marine, specialist suppliers to the offshore oil & gas and marine industries, asked Tom to perform at Marabini's as they were welcoming their friends from Sunflow Holdings, Kuala Lumpar to the region. Tom was pleased to react with speed and entertained the restaurant with his varied and popular repertoire. Many diners commented to Tom, what a lovely surprise it was to find him there on a Thursday night!
Tom is constantly reviewing his repertoire and was able to introduce a few new songs he has added. They went down very well and you can catch Tom back at Marabini's on Saturday 16th March from 8:30pm.
Tom is on form at Marabini's!
There was full audience participation last night - it was a night to remember and Tom would like to thank all who came, and those who stayed on long after they had vacated their table, after seeing Tom was singing! As ever, Giovanni and his staff were superb - it must be one of the North East's top venues for a great night out.
Don't miss out on the fun! Book your table for Tom's next gig there - 16th March 2013. You won't be disappointed!
Busy night in Morpeth!
Andrea, Dave & Ellis Thompson of Toma Fund, the charity Tom sang for in Eldon Square at Christmas, came along to see what all the fuss is about! Now they know! There is nowhere quite like it.
You can catch him Tom there again on 16th February 2013, but be sure to book a table. He starts around 8:30pm - depending on how busy it is!!
What a night!
The restaurant was filled to capacity, with some birthday parties, including that of Antonio, who had come all the way from Naples especially and also a hen party. As ever, Tom began with a few of his popular Classical/Musical Theatre numbers, including a special dedication to Antonio - Nessun Dorma.
He moved through some swing and quickly into his dance/party songs. He introduced a couple of new songs to his repertoire again, including The Lumineers' "Ho Hey" which had everyone singing along. Before long, there were lots of people dancing, and it stayed that way through until he finished.
Once again, we want to thank everyone for the lovely comments made to all members of Tom's family. Tom just loves to perform at Marabini's for you! If you missed the night....why?! He'll be back there again on Saturday 2nd February. Make your booking for what is a great way to spend a Saturday night out!
Happy New Year!
There were so many highlights, but seeing Tom singing Amarillo with a conga attached to him wrapped right round the restaurant must be one of them. The standing ovation he got for Nessun Dorma nearly blew the roof off - that was another!
The atmosphere was fantastic, we all received so many compliments about, not only Tom's performance, but also Ed's expertise on sound, and later as DJ!
Natasha Magee was one of the revellers and late on gave us a rendition of "Walking on Sunshine" - another highlight! It was, it has to be said, a great party - really - you had to be there. Tom will be back there on 12th January, so, if you couldn't get along for New Year, why not come along and see him soon?
New Year is nearly upon us!
For those of you who are going, rest assured, that Tom's voice has fully recovered from his brief virus, and he is looking forward to entertaining you, and seeing the New Year in with you. It is going to be a great night!
Tom will be back there again on Saturday 12th January, so if you can't go on New Year's Eve, why not book a table for the 12th?
Last night at Marabini's
By the end of the night the place looked somewhat like a war zone - rarely have so many plates been smashed during "Zorba's Dance"! Tom's next stop at Marabini's will be New Year's Eve, which has been a sell out since before records began! For those who are going though, Tom is really looking forward to seeing you there! For those who aren't or can't, check out the Gig Dates page, as he has more dates there in the New Year!
Meanwhile, catch Tom in Eldon Square - he'll be there next on Tuesday Evening, between about 6:20pm and 8pm.
Standing room only!
We all had a great night, and hope the diners did too. Leanne Clark certainly did! Leanne, pictured above with Tom, is Events Manager at Doxford Hall Hotel, and has booked Tom for events there in January, February and March. More details can be found here.
Thanks, as always to Giovanni and his marvellous staff for another great night. Tom is back there next on Saturday, 15th December. Book early to avoid disappointment!
Tom's next public appearance will be on Friday 7th December in Eldon Square.
They've got him surrounded!
The evening began, with his mix of Musical Theatre, Il Divo, and classical numbers. A gentleman came up and requested "Time to say Goodbye" - not a song Tom normally performs (for a Baritone, it is quite high at the end!), but he obliged to warm applause.
After a short break, he built up through some swing into his upbeat repertoire, and introduced a few more new songs. He was asked for Mr Brightside by The Killers, a new addition, and later followed it up with another of theirs - Somebody Told Me.
He went on, and on, with lots of dancing, and at the end, finished on ABBA's Thank You For The Music - by which time (see above) he was surrounded by dancers!
Tom said "the diners at Marabini's are always such a lovely audience to sing to - it was a really fun night!". This is borne out by a post on Tom's facebook page today:
"Really enjoyed the show last night and next time we're going to ask for a better table. We were pushed too far away. We would have danced earlier if we'd been in "The centre forward" position!!
Many thanks!!" - Michael Floyd
[Editor: And later received a message from Geoff Gordon:
Saw you at Marabini's last Saturday night. Was brill!]
Tom's next public gig is the Final of UK Festival4Stars in Runcorn on 18th November. That is probably too far for most of you though, so how about Tuesday 27th November, in Eldon Square, or Thursday 29th November at The Bay Horse, Whickham?
Tom will be back at Marabini's on Saturday, 1st December 2012.
Tom launches IL Divino at Marabini's!
Tom was able to take the opportunity to launch his new CD, Il Divino, named because that is what Giovanni, the proprietor of Marabini's, calls Tom.
Also there on Saturday, was Sylvia Orrick, who has become Tom's most devoted fan. Her favourite song of Tom's has always been Il Divo's Nella Fantasia, which is featured on his new CD.
Sylvia later said "Super night again at Marabini’s, great selection of material and great audience participation. Gold was particularly mad with that group at the back of the restaurant (joining in)! Giovanni’s not wrong though – Il Divino is certainly a title you are well worthy of.
Your new CD was well worth the wait and contains a brilliant cross section of differing song types. As you are probably aware there is one track in particular that still continues to reduce me to tears. No prizes though for guessing which one that is."
Tom is back at Marabini's this Saturday, 10th November, 2012.
For those interested in seeing him perform in Eldon Square, another date has been booked today. Tom will be there between 2pm and 6pm on 27th November 2012. Don't forget to check all Tom's public gigs can be found here.
Welcome back Tom!
There were impressive numbers up doing the hand jive, and Tom sang on until just before midnight, with many dancing on until he finished, by request, with a second rendition of Nessun Dorma! So many people stopped to say how much they enjoyed the night, and although this was his first gig since being ill, it was clear Tom really enjoyed the night too.
Tom has a number of private bookings now, but will be back at Marabini's on Saturday, 3rd November 2012. Book your table now - if last night was anything to go by it will be a great night.
Apologies and thanks...
Thanks to everyone who has sent him their well wishes, and of course to Pete Brown, who stepped in at the last minute to sing to diners last night.
Tom aims to make next Saturday a night to remember by way of apology and thanks!
Gremlins can't stop a brilliant night!
Not only did he introduce one or two new songs into his set from MIKA and Coldplay, but he rounded of the night to an ovation for his final number - Puccini's Nessun Dorma. It absolutely brought the house down!
If you would like to see another of Tom's amazing performances, book your table now as he is there for the next two Saturdays, 22nd and 29th September, 2012. See you there!
Debut at Fratelli's a great success!
Tom sang two sets, the first a mix of swing and pop, with mixture of classics like "Mr Bojangles", with more modern material such as "The Man Who Can't Be Moved". In his second set, he sang some of the Pop Op, Classical and Musical Theatre material, for which he has developed a reputation, and which drew appreciative applause from the diners. Following his holiday, this was brother Ed's first gig back on sound too, which left Tom to do what he enjoys best!
Tom and his family would like to thank Fabrizio and his staff, for their hospitality, and very much look forward to working with them again.
You can catch Tom's next public gig at Marabini's on Saturday, 15th September, 2012. Book your table now!
Late start….great finish!
With his brother still away in France, Tom was once again without his regular sound man, but he delivered a polished performance. You can catch him again this week, for his debut at Fratelli's in Ponteland on Thursday 30th August from about 7:00pm. Book now, as it is proving to be a popular night!
He will be back at Marabini's on 15th September, 2012.
Tom will also be returning to the recording studio again this week, as he continues to work on a second CD which he hopes to have finished for Christmas.

Tom Wyllie returns to Marabini's
He was back on form, introducing a couple of new songs, and judging by some really nice feedback, his voice was appreciated by many of the diners there.

July Marabini's Gig brought forward 24 hours...
We wish to advise, that, due to unforeseen circumstances, Tom's 28th July 2012 Gig at Marabini's has been brought forward 24 hours. Tom will be appearing the night before - on Friday 27th July 2012.
Giovanni, and Tom are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

He sang The Script's song The Man Who Can't Be Moved and accompanied himself on the Ukulele as he sang Train's Soul Sister.

Mention on Metro Radio!
A very special guest….
Friday was a great night, the restaurant was fully booked, and there were folks who had eaten during happy hour, and having heard that Tom was singing, stayed until late into the night, all of which made for a busy night, and a great atmosphere!
Tom has recently got to know Anna Foster from Metro Radio, who came along with her lovely family, to see Tom perform, and she and Tom sang "All I Ask of You" from Phantom of the Opera. Very impromptu, poor Anna wasn't given a chance to warm up, perform a sound check, indeed she isn't used to singing with a microphone - but the diners were treated to a very special moment - it was fantastic.
Afterwards, Anna said "Tom, you were superb, well worth the hours journey! We have had a brilliant evening, we must sing together again!" But Anna - if you are looking in, we'd all like to thank you too - you were brilliant. You and your lovely family, made it a night we'll all remember!
Thanks too, to the many people, who made a point of saying how much they enjoyed the evening, and of course, as ever, to Mrs Sylvia Orrick, and husband Peter, who were seeing Tom perform for the fifth time!
Don't miss Tom's next appearance at Marabini's on 8th June 2012!
Saturday at Marabini's - one of the best yet?
As ever, Tom introduced a couple of new songs, including a Julio Iglesias song, Te Voy A Contar Mi Vida. Everyone was having so much fun, he was still singing at Midnight!
It wasn't just the ladies that were up and dancing either. Tom performed his popular version of The Hand Jive, from Grease, which led to some hilarity!....
Finally, perhaps there is some truth that Giovanni and Tom are in some way related - they were even dressed identically on Saturday!
Don't miss Tom's next appearance at Morpeth's number one venue - Marabini's Ristorante, on Friday 18th May 2012
Last Friday was fun at Marabini's - don't miss the next one!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to say how much they enjoyed the evening, and thanks, as always to Giovanni (seen with Tom above) and his staff, who do such a fantastic job - it is a wonderful place to eat.
Tom is back on Saturday 5th May so book your table and get practicing the hand jive!!
New dates at Marabini's….
Marabini's Ristorante. Please see the Gig Dates page, where there are ten dates over the next six months listed. Why not book a table? The food is top rate, the Marabini hospitality is so warm, and you know you'll enjoy the entertainment too! Look forward to seeing you there!
Another great night at Marabini's
It has been Tom's practice recently to perform his audience favourites whilst introducing one or two new songs. Saturday was no different, and, of course his renditions of O Sole Mio, Isabel, Nella Fantasia and Parla Pui Piano went down really well. New songs for the night included 'Til I Hear You Sing (well - that was one he hadn't sung for ages!), Up Town Girl (Billy Joel), My Interpretation (MIKA) and, one of the highlights of the night - The Hand Jive (Grease). He invited two lady diners, to "duel" hand jive with him to great applause! It was another thoroughly enjoyable night.
Don't miss Tom's next appearances. Next one at Marabini's is on Saturday 5th May 2012, but you can see him too at Martha's Bar at The Vermont Hotel on Friday, 30th March 2012 and at The Metro Centre, Gateshead on Saturday 7th April 2012 (please see "Gig Dates" page)

Marabini's last night...
Indeed Tom was delighted to receive many compliments and enquiries last night, as he sang his mix of Classical and Musical Theatre, together with some swing and pop. He introduced some new songs (for Tom) which went down very well, including - just for Giovanni, Parla Plui Piano (from "The Godfather"). The night ended with people up and dancing to songs from Footloose, E.L.O. Take That and The Beatles.
Come and see Tom next at Marabini's on Friday 9th March 2012.
Last night at Marabini's….
